The mission of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) is to protect the lives and interests of U.S, citizens abroad and to strengthen the security of United States borders through the vigilant adjudication of visas and passports. We share information about international financial scams that may target U.S.  citizens; develop resources and tools to prevent and disrupt passport, visa, and other types of consular fraud; and cooperate with other federal agencies engaged in fraud prevention.  Our vision is to help U.S. citizens engage the world. We issue the travel documents that allow U.S. citizen to travel the globe and issues visas, so that lawful immigrants and visitors can travel to the United States.
