Apple refunds

Thanks to a settlement with the FTC, Apple is refunding more than $32 million to people for in-app charges made by kids without their parent’s permission. Apple also had to change its billing practices to make sure it now gets express, informed consent from people before charging them for in-app purchases.

By now, anyone charged for in-app purchases should have gotten an email from Apple letting them know how to get a refund for unauthorized spending by kids. Think you might qualify for a refund? Look for Apple’s email or contact the company directly through getsupport.apple.com for instructions on submitting a refund request. If you think you might qualify for a refund but are unable to get one, please contact the FTC.

This is a joke. Apple support told me that since I already had a refund before this took place, I was not eligible for a refund made by my child. The previous refund was for a duplicate purchase. The email that they sent to people was very vague and the links did not work correctly.

My sons have autism and had all kinds of charges racked up on Fruit Ninja, etc. Apple would only refund one charge of $37 worth of Fruit Ninja blades, the next time I called they said they would not do it again, since they had already done it once before. I told her they memorize everything and can get the passcode easily and remember it easily, they did not care at all.
